HUANG Zongxian was Appointed as the Distinguished Academic Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Design

News from this website (Text/ ZHANG Sisi Picture/ LIU Ying Executive Editor/Zhou Xiaoji) On the morning of December 17, the appointment ceremony of the Distinguished Academic Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Design of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University was grandly held in Conference Room 502, Administration Building of the university. HUANG Zongxian, the Academic Dean and Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the Arts College of Sichuan University, was appointed as the Distinguished Academic Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Design of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University. LIU Qiang, Party Secretary of Chengdu University, presented him with the letter of appointment, while WANG Xiaojun, Standing Committee Member of Party Committee and Vice President of Chengdu University and Executive Dean of CCAA, presided over the appointment ceremony.


LIU Qiang warmly welcomed HUANG Zongxian to join the School of Fine Arts and Design of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University. He pointed out that HUANG Zongxian, as an authoritative expert in the national art education specialty and a famous scholar in the art world, possessed a wide range of influence in the whole country. Therefore, he firmly believed that the engagement of HUANG Zongxian in the School of Fine Arts and Design can greatly promote the diversified progress of the School, including discipline development, professional connotation construction, capacity improvement for scientific research and academic team development.

HUANG Zongxian claimed that he had witnessed the establishment and development of Chengdu University's art discipline, and he would fully support the construction of Chengdu University's first-rate disciplines and majors in the near future, with being committed to becoming a promoter of high-quality development of Chengdu University's art discipline.

Relevant leaders from the School Office, the Teachers' Work Department of the Party Committee and the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts attended the appointment ceremony.

He is the Chief Expert of the national social science major bidding project, the Executive Deputy Director of the College Fine Arts Education Branch of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Society, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, the Deputy Director of the Theoretical Committee of China Artists Association, the Member of the Art Teaching Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Director of the Teaching Steering Committee of College Fine Arts in Sichuan Province, the Vice-chairman of Sichuan Artists Association, the Distinguished Bayu Chair Professor, and the Winner of the First China Teaching Material Construction Award, who is mainly engaged in research and teaching activities related to art history and art theory.

As the person in charge of the sub-project "Centennial New Art Movement under the Leadership of the Communist Party of China", a major national tendering project of social sciences and art sciences, HUANG Zongxian has undertaken the national art science and provincial and ministerial art research projects many times, publishing more than ten classic works including Outline of Chinese Art History, History of Art Drawings Concerning the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Choice in the Times of Great Worry, Comparative Study of Chinese and Western Sculpture Art, From Principle to Form: General Art, etc. At the same time, he also published hundreds of academic papers in numerous important journals including Literature and Art Studies, Art Research, Art and People's Daily. He won many scientific research achievement awards granted by the Ministry of Education and Sichuan Province, with his teaching achievements winning the First Prize and the Second Prize granted by Sichuan Province. As a professor and doctoral supervisor who had been selected as the academic and technical leader of Sichuan Province many times in a row, he also trained a large number of art education experts and high-end talents proficient in art history theory and art criticism.
