A single river connects six countries, and their destinies are closely intertwined. Relying on the natural bond of the Lancang-Mekong River, the exchanges and cooperation between China, Thailand and Laos have taken deep roots and flourished. Standing at the new starting point of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, and taking advantage of the convenient China-Laos Railway, recently, three batches of teacher and student representatives from Laos and Thailand have visited the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts respectively. The International Department, centering on different exchange themes, has built a platform for continuous dialogue and in-depth learning among teachers and students from the three countries through diversified forms such as special seminars, cultural immersion and educational interactions.





Art Fusion: Lao Teachers and Students Focus on Artistic Dialogue Between Tradition and Modernity
Teachers and students from Lao international schools focused on "Art Fusion". Centering on art education and practice, they systematically visited intangible cultural heritage (ICH) handicraft workshops such as calligraphy, lacquered fan making, dough figurine crafting and bamboo weaving, and took special courses on Tai Chi, experiencing the spiritual connotation of Eastern aesthetics through diverse artistic forms. In addition, the guests visited Chengdu cultural landmarks including Tianfu Art Park and Dongjiao Memory. From natural ecology to modern art spaces, they comprehensively felt Sichuan's artistic inheritance and innovative vitality between tradition and modernity.




Serving the Local Community: Facilitating the Co-construction and Sharing of Basic Education between China and Thailand
Teacher and student representatives from the Affiliated Primary School of the Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University (Thailand) visited the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, focusing on the core theme of "Higher Education Empowering and Serving Local Basic Education" and conducting exchanges around the co-construction of basic education. The representatives exchanged experiences with the International Department on areas such as higher education empowering basic education through art and building international bridges to serve the local community. They also went deep into the Affiliated Kindergarten of Chengdu University and Swan Lake Primary School, carried out classroom observations and teaching seminars, actively explored paths for teaching innovation, and reached multiple cooperation intentions with Chinese schools on curriculum co-construction and teacher exchanges. Thai teachers and students also participated in a traditional Chinese painting workshop and visited cultural landmarks such as Kuanzhai Alley and Chengdu Museum.



Cultural Immersion in Chengdu: Thai Teachers and Students Conduct Thematic Research on Local Humanities
Teachers and students from Salasavitthaya Oriental School (Thailand) carried out a series of thematic research activities at our college under the theme of "Cultural Immersion in Chengdu". Centering on Chengdu's local culture, they systematically participated in immersive workshops such as tea ceremony, dough figurine crafting, ethnic dance, paper cutting and traditional Chinese painting, deeply experiencing the aesthetic concepts and humanistic spirit contained therein through hands-on practice. During the skill inheritance process, Thai teachers and students deepened their understanding and emotional resonance with Chengdu culture, and established continuous cognition and in-depth connection with Chengdu's humanistic heritage in the multicultural context.Bridging Mountains and Rivers, Moving Forward Hand in Hand. Against the backdrop of the new era where China, Thailand and Laos are building a community with a shared future, people-to-people exchanges and educational cooperation are injecting new vitality into the time-honored traditional friendship between the three countries. Adhering to the theme of "Art + Humanities", the International Department strives to deepen in-depth interactions between Chengdu and ASEAN, build a bridge for cultural mutual learning through exchanges and talent cultivation, and lay a solid foundation for serving the international development of local education and humanities and promoting regional common prosperity.
