The program, sponsored by the Department of Physical, Health and Art Education of the Ministry of Education and themed on the idea of promoting excellent Chinese traditional culture, aims to showcase the achievements of the school's physical education and arts education in carrying forward outstanding Chinese traditional culture and demonstrate features and characteristics of campuses and students by organically integrating traditional culture with short video platforms.
The program showcased the educational outcomes of the Lacquer Art Workshop in relation to the passing down of outstanding Chinese culture, the innovation of lacquer craftsmanship and lacquer art through the integration of Chinese lacquer art and contemporary art.
The program team went to the college in July this year to conduct on-site interviews and filming with the students and teachers of the Lacquer Art Workshop. During the interview, the reporters visited the workshop, discussed lacquer culture with the students and teachers to go deeply into the passing down of lacquer culture and the creation of cultural creation lacquer products. The students expressed their commitment to take up the important mission of passing on the outstanding Chinese traditional culture and to forge ahead.
Lacquer art is one of the outstanding traditional cultures of the Chinese people. In order to promote traditional culture, Chengdu University, as one of the first higher education institutions in Sichuan to offer lacquer art teaching courses, has been offering lacquer art teaching courses since 1998 and has trained a large number of young talents in passing on and innovation of lacquer art over the years. It successfully completed the National Art Found Chengdu Lacquer Art Innovative Creation Talent Training Project in 2019. The Lacquer Art Workshop currently offers various practical courses and training courses on lacquer teaching, among which the Lacquer Materials Course is a first-class course at the College. The Workshop has received a lot of postgraduates and undergraduates and their works have won awards in provincial and municipal exhibitions many times, and some of them have been selected for the 13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
