Students and Teachers from the School of Film and Animation Won the "Academy Award" and "Society Award" of the CCAVA in 2020-2021

On 4th December, the awarding ceremony of 2020-2021 academic achievements of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art (CCAVA) and the 11th "Academy Award" and 2020-2021 academic achievements of CCAVA and the 14th "Society Award" was held in the form of online cloud and offline Beijing main venue and Hangzhou branch venue. Ten works by teachers and students of the School of Film and Animation of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts were awarded "Academy Award" and two academic achievements were awarded "Society Award", making a total of 12 awards in both categories.


In recent years, the School of Film and Animation has actively innovated the mode of training professional talents, and fully implemented the fundamental task of "Morality Education" under the "Three-wide Education" system. The Animation and Radio and Television Editing majors have been selected as the National First-class Undergraduate Program Construction Site. Besides, the Radio and Television Editing major have been selected as Provincial-level Curriculum Ideological and Political Education Model Major. The School focuses on cultivating students' professional core practical ability in the first-class curricula which are designed to cultivate outstanding students. In terms of ideological and political education during the courses, we allows students to participate in the whole process from pre-planning, mid-term shooting to post-editing, so as to enhance students' creative ability in practice and make salutary influence on educating students' ideological and political outlook, as evidenced by a large number of excellent student works.

Up to now, our School has won 136 national and provincial awards in competitions including the "Academy Award" this year, 78 more than in 2020. Among them, we have 38 national awards and 98 provincial awards. The awards of important competitions are as follows: 2 national awards and 7 provincial awards in the Red Special of the 17th Challenge Cup National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest; 15 national awards and 17 provincial awards in the China Creative Challenges Contest; 4 national awards and 17 provincial awards in the "Lan Qiao Cup" of National Software and Information Technology Professionals Competition; 3 national awards and 8 provincial awards in the 13th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students; 4 national awards and 22 provincial awards in the NCDA Awards; 14 provincial awards in the Original Animation Contest for College Students in Sichuan and 13 provincial awards in New Media Creative Competition for College Students in Sichuan. In the cultivation of professional talents, we have benefited a lot from the practice of promoting learning through competition.

It is reported that the CCAVA was established in 1983 and is the only national-level association in the field of visual art education in China as approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and under the supervision of the National Radio and Television Administration. It is a standing director of the China Federation of Radio and Television Association and professional academic group composed of professionals engaged in teaching and research of film, television and animation in higher education institutions, as well as professionals related to radio, film and television and mass communication. The organizing committee received a total of 2,229 entries for the “Academy Award”, including 296 entries in the teacher category and 1,933 entries in the student category.
