From May 14 to 16, seven international faculty members and students from the International Department of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts visited Shuanghe Village, Nanping Town, Jiuzhaigou County. Through interviews with local officials and villagers, they documented the development stories of rural revitalization in the area using their cameras.

Jiuzhaigou County is our university's designated assistance unit. With the introduction by Yao Geng, the Comprehensive Section Chief of Chengdu University's Academic Affairs Office and the university's resident assistance cadre, the research team faculty and students gradually learned about the local history and current situation.

Shuanghe Village is located 10.1 kilometers from the county town in a remote valley of Nanping Town's Anle area, with an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters. As Chengdu University's designated assistance village, although it has shaken off poverty, the villagers' main sources of income still rely on migrant work and farming. With fewer than 100 permanent residents, it is a typical "hollowed-out" village left with mostly elderly and children. The locals struggle to find ways to get rich despite being surrounded by abundant natural resources, facing significant risks of falling back into poverty.

Over the past two years, through university-local collaboration and the introduction of third-party companies, 74 vacant farmhouses in the village have been transformed into wellness homestays, with 119 beds, courtyard landscapes and campsites gradually completed. In midsummer, Shuanghe Village in Nanping Town, Jiuzhaigou County is surrounded by mountains with beautiful scenery, featuring well-arranged courtyard landscapes and leisure parks full of blooming flowers... During July and August, the occupancy rate of these wellness homestays reaches over 95%, with most guests being elderly people from Chengdu, Mianyang and other cities in the province who come here to escape the summer heat.

Under Teacher Yao's organization, faculty and students from our college have visited Shuanghe Village to shoot promotional videos, create wall paintings, and build local characteristic cultural and tourism brands. Through joint efforts from multiple parties, the village has now become a national 3A-level tourist attraction and a demonstration village for rural revitalization.

The story here deeply moved the faculty and students of the research team. The international students not only listened with their ears but also recorded the subtle changes and unique charm of Shuanghe Village through their camera lenses. They hope to use these images to show more people the vivid practice and bright prospects of China's rural revitalization.

This research trip to Shuanghe Village by international faculty and students was not only a practical application of professional knowledge but also a cross-border cultural exchange and emotional connection. By combining international perspectives with the local characteristics of Shuanghe Village, it has injected new vitality into rural revitalization.

In the future, the International Department will continue to commit to facilitating exchange practices between international students and contemporary China, guiding international students to apply their artistic creations in the broader context of society.
