Faculty-Student Dialogue | College Holds Themed Exchange Forum for International Students

To fully implement the spirit of the university's Eighth Party Congress, carry out the 2025 leadership grassroots engagement initiative of the college Party committee, further advance the "Cultivation of New Era Talents" project, and strengthen faculty-student communication, College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts held a themed exchange forum for international students in Room G-2012 on May 20.

Attendees included Zhou Xiaoji, Party Secretary of College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts; Ran Yisong, Director of International Department; Yang Ke, Deputy Director of College Office; and Wan Qun, Deputy Director of International Department.

International student representatives and faculty Party members from the directly-administered Administrative Party Branch of College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University participated in the forum.


Zhou Xiaoji first briefed attendees on the significant outcomes and key messages from President Xi's state visits to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia during April 14-18. He led participants in studying important documents including the China-Vietnam Joint Statement, China-Malaysia Joint Statement and China-Cambodia Joint Statement.

This visit marked the President's first overseas trip in 2024 and represented a major diplomatic initiative following the Central Conference on Work Relating to Neighboring Countries. During the intensive five-day, four-night schedule featuring nearly 30 engagements, the President profoundly elaborated on China's guiding principles of building amicable, secure and prosperous neighborhood relations through sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, while promoting a shared community destiny.

The visit yielded over 100 cooperative achievements, opening new chapters in building a community with shared future among neighboring countries and charting a new vision for China and regional partners to jointly advance stability and prosperity.


Zhou Xiaoji first introduced to the attending faculty and students the important outcomes and spirit of President Xi's state visits to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia from April 14 to 18, and led everyone in studying key documents including the China-Vietnam Joint Statement, China-Malaysia Joint Statement and China-Cambodia Joint Statement. The President's visit marked the opening chapter of this year's head-of-state foreign visits and represented a major diplomatic action following the Central Conference on Work with Neighboring Countries. During the intensive five-day, four-night schedule, the President participated in nearly 30 events, profoundly elaborating on the concepts and principles of building good-neighborly, secure, prosperous relations and the philosophy of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness with shared destiny. The visit facilitated the achievement of over 100 cooperative outcomes, writing a new chapter in building a community with shared future with neighboring countries and outlining a new vision for China and regional nations to jointly promote stability and prosperity.

Ran Yisong presented the College's achievements in international student cultivation and typical cases. Since its establishment, the College's international students have won over 300 awards at various levels, including 84 in international art competitions, 89 in national art competitions, and 54 in provincial/ministerial art competitions, with most being gold awards. Meanwhile, the College has organized students to deeply participate in various volunteer services, with over 100 participations in major events like the 31st World University Summer Games and the Chinese Super League. More than 30 outstanding students have shared their study-in-Chengdu and study-in-China stories on platforms including CCTV, CGTN, Guangming Daily, People's Daily Online, China Youth Daily and China News Network, generating over 1,000 reports at various levels and accumulating over 1 million views for short video works.

International student representatives actively shared their experiences and feelings about studying in Chengdu. Malaysian student LIANG CHERNG FENG said that during his six years studying in Chengdu, he has developed many interests and abilities. The President's visit to Malaysia left a deep impression on him and further strengthened his determination to devote himself to cultural exchanges between the two countries, serve as an envoy of China-Malaysia friendship, and contribute to building a new "Golden 50 Years" of China-Malaysia relations. Thai student SITTIRAT ATIRAT mentioned that this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, and the school has organized rich and wonderful commemorative activities that made Thai students feel the warmth of home. He expressed that after returning to Thailand to teach at a university after graduation, he will not forget the school's earnest instructions and will devote himself to friendly exchanges between Chinese and Thai students. Vietnamese student KHANH DO said she was honored to serve as a volunteer for the Chengdu Universiade and contribute to Chengdu's urban development and international exchanges. Her studies at the school have laid a solid foundation for her professional skills. This year marks the 75th anniversary of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations, and the President's mention of "the profound Vietnam-China friendship as comrades and brothers" has inspired her to study harder and use her paintbrush to depict beautiful chapters of the two countries' friendship.


The participating faculty and students engaged in active discussions, sharing their views in a lively atmosphere. The students expressed gratitude for the meticulous care and support from the college, pledging to study hard and use their professional knowledge in arts and Chinese language to build bridges for international communication.

This successful thematic forum represents our college's latest initiative to strengthen ties between the Party, faculty and students while enhancing the political and organizational functions of primary-level Party organizations. The College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts will continue employing various approaches to facilitate mutual understanding and growth between faculty and international students, ensuring our institution remains a warm "home away from home" for students studying abroad.
