School of Music and Dance of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts was firstly founded as the Art College of Chengdu University in 2005. Currently, it has set up undergraduate majors including vocal music, instrumental music along with music and dance performance. Since 2014, it has begun to enroll the art master degree candidates. In the future, it will offer majors like musicology, composition and dance studies. It has nearly 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students in total on campus.

The school has 51 teaching staff, including 16 professors and associate professors, 3 PhD teachers, 20 master supervisors, 25 double-qualified teachers, 3 experts who enjoy the State Council special allowance, an academic and technological leader in Sichuan Province, and an excellent expert with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province.

In the past three years, the school has undertaken more than 50 research projects at the national, provincial and municipal levels, including 2 National projects, 2 provincial and ministerial projects, and more than 10 department and bureau level projects. The school has published more than 20 monographs and textbooks, more than 260 papers, and won more than 30 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.

The school has 3300 square meters of teaching practice space, 5 mufti-functional halls for stage practice, more than 100 piano rooms and 10 rehearsal halls.

In recent years, the school has won the first prize in the National College Students Art Festival Competition for three consecutive years. Teachers and students have traveled to the United States, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Tunisia and other countries on behalf of the Sichuan province and Chengdu Municipal Governments to participate in cultural and artistic exchanges.
