On May 24, 2025, the "2025 Chengdu City Interactive Experience Camp for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese University Students" organized by the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPPCC Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs Committee was held at the Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum.

International students from College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, along with nearly 100 Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese students from seven Chengdu universities, visited Du Fu Thatched Cottage to trace the hometown of the "Poet Sage" and experience Du Fu's patriotic sentiments.

Strolling Through the Thatched Cottage, Listening to the Stories of the "Poet Sage"

Under the guidance of professional docents, the students wandered through the gardens of Du Fu Thatched Cottage, as if traveling through time. The scenes described by the "Poet Sage"—"North and south of my house winds a clear stream, / Where flocks of gulls daily float and gleam"—vividly came to life before their eyes.

The docents provided detailed introductions to Du Fu's life in Chengdu and the creative background of his poem "My Cottage Unroofed by Autumn Gales." Through their vivid narration, the image of Du Fu—a poet deeply concerned for his country and people—became increasingly vivid in the students' minds. They also gained a deeper understanding of the profound compassion behind his words: "Oh, for a great mansion with ten thousand rooms, / Where all the poor on earth could find welcome shelter."

Poetry "Feihualing" Game: Experiencing the Charm of Classical Poetry

After visiting the core exhibition areas of Du Fu Thatched Cottage, students participated in a poetry "Feihualing" competition. The event was filled with enthusiasm as students showcased their mastery of Du Fu's poetry through verse recitation. This intellectual exchange deepened their understanding of the profound patriotic sentiments embodied in Du Fu's works.

This visit to Du Fu Thatched Cottage provided an immersive cultural experience for our international students. Through exploring Du Fu's patriotic sentiments, the international students gained insight into the essence of Tianfu culture via direct engagement with Sichuan's cultural heritage. The activity not only fostered friendships through interactive exchanges, but also allowed participants to personally experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture and the "Land of Abundance."
