On November 6, 2025, the first activity of the International Students Calligraphy Interest Group was successfully held. This activity attracted nearly 20 calligraphy enthusiasts from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries, as well as Chinese teachers from the International Department. Everyone gathered together to jointly unlock the cultural codes behind Chinese characters. At the beginning of the activity, the students formed teams through interesting interactions, quickly narrowed the distance in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, and built a friendly bridge for subsequent cross-cultural exchanges.

Taking the seal script classic Yishan Stele as the entry point, this activity focused on the two characters "王" (king) and "土" (earth). From the starting stroke, moving stroke to the ending stroke, everyone carefully pondered the linear rhythm and symmetrical beauty of seal script. In the subsequent free creation session, the students picked up their brushes to write their favorite Chinese characters. International students, in particular, intuitively felt the charm of the form and meaning of Chinese characters in the flow of ink and brush, and deeply experienced the profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture.
The International Students Calligraphy Interest Group holds regular activities every Thursday. We sincerely invite students who love traditional Chinese culture and are interested in the art of Chinese characters to join! Adhering to the tenet of "spreading Chinese character culture, promoting cross-cultural exchanges, and cultivating the humanistic literacy of international youth", the group relies on calligraphy as a carrier to build an immersive platform for students from all countries to experience the aesthetics of Chinese characters and understand Chinese culture. The activities not only allow everyone to appreciate the charm of calligraphy through ink and brush, but also are highly consistent with the International Department’s goal of "cultivating compound talents with both international perspective and cultural confidence", enhancing students’ humanistic literacy in cross-cultural exchanges.
