Recently, the International Student Calligraphy Interest Group has been officially launched. Spontaneously established by calligraphy-loving international students of International Department, the group aims to take calligraphy as a bridge. Through interesting explanations of the evolution of Chinese characters, situational writing practice sessions and personalized guidance on brush and ink techniques, it enables international students to master basic calligraphy skills in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere and experience the aesthetic taste and cultural spirit embodied in it.

Since its establishment, the group has successfully held seven systematic activities, with a total participation of over 100 person-times. Taking the classic seal script work Yishan Stele as the introductory model, the courses guide students to enter the world of seal script from scratch. In the early stage, many students, encountering seal script for the first time, struggled with unsteady brush holding, stiff strokes and poor grasp of character structure. During the practice sessions, senior members took the initiative to share their writing experience and provided one-on-one guidance to new members, helping them feel the brush holding strength and stroke movement rhythm. Teacher Wang Yang, the instructor, gave detailed character-by-character comments on the works, personally demonstrated key techniques such as stroke initiation and termination, and patiently corrected deviations. In the atmosphere of joint research between teachers and students and mutual assistance between seniors and juniors, the students have made steady progress in their writing skills. Moreover, through every stroke they made, they have deeply realized the profound heritage of traditional culture.

On December 18, 2025, as the New Year approached, the calligraphy activity was held with the theme of "Writing and Sending 'Fu'". Full of enthusiasm, the students wielded their brushes and focused on writing seal script characters of "Fu" one after another on red paper. With the graceful flow of the brush tips, the fragrance of ink filled the air, and each dignified and primitive "Fu" character sprang to life on the paper. These works not only embodied the students' love for calligraphy art, but also carried their most sincere New Year wishes to the teachers, making this warmth and respect conveyed through brush and ink the most genuine gift as the Spring Festival drew near.

International Department has always been committed to the cultural practice education of international students, striving to help them integrate into Chinese culture and improve their comprehensive literacy through diverse activities. It is reported that the Calligraphy Interest Group will continue to carry out a series of activities focusing on seal script in the next semester, further deepening students' understanding and mastery of calligraphy. It will continuously build a platform for everyone to inherit cultural roots and enhance artistic accomplishment, allowing the lingering fragrance of ink and books to permeate the campus for a long time.
