Alex Close is a visual artist, educator, and design researcher from Toronto, Canada. She is interested in contemporary visual communication, perceptual distortions in complex environments, and challenging conventional notions of abstraction. Her diverse influences stem from projects and residencies both in Canada and abroad, including collaboration with an international artist collective and research into virtual collaborative brainstorming. Alex earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from OCAD University in 2015, followed by a Master of Fine Art Practice (MLitt) from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017, and a Master of Design Research (MDes) from Carleton University in 2020.
